About the Event

On 20th February 1947, Prime Minister Attlee of Britain promised the Independence of India. On 3rd June, Lord Mountbatten, the Viceroy of India & Burma proposed the plan for India's Independence. On 15th August 1947, Newspapers announced the freedom of India. Two days later, on 17th August, government declared the partition plan, and largest mass migration and massacre was registred. This talk is about how Cyril Radcliffe awarded India with a division on basis of religion. How was the plan executed and what were the shortfalls in implementation. Talk will be conducted in Hindi.

About the Speaker

Vikramjit Singh Rooprai is an IT Consultant, who, turned his interest to heritage. He started reading history from a different angle with his urge to find the flip side of the coin. He dedicated himself to promote the culture and heritage of India

How to Reach

By Car: From AIIMS, reach Safdarjung Tomb and turn right on Lodhi Road. Take another Right from the Islamic Centre on Lodhi Road. Turn left immediately into the (IHC) gates and park in IHC Basement.
If coming from Nizamuddin side, take the service lane from Airforce Bal Bharti School. Take left into the gates of IHC and park
By Metro: Get down at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and you may walk upto the IHC. Some may also choose to get down at Jor Bagh Metro Station or the Khan Market Station. A battery/auto rikshaw can help you reach the venue easily
By Bus: India Habitat Centre is a famous bus stop on Lodhi Road, well connected by many routes.
Once at India Habitat Centre, come to Gulmohar Hall on first floor opposite Stein Auditorium
