About the Event

A long awaited trip to Punjab covering sites like Sirhind, Sanghol, Doraha, Shambhu, Malerkotla and most important, the site of oldest Non-Cooperation movement of India, Sri Bhaini Sahib. The 2 day trip will start with visiting the site from where Sikh Empire started and then proceed to the land of historic Kuka Movement. During this trip, we will also visit the shooting site of movie Rang De Basanti.

Sites

Sirhind: Sir-Hind, the biggest Mughal Cantonement of its time, when they captured the younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh ji and buried alive in a wall. Baba Banda Bahadur raided the site and established first Sikh Raj. We shall visit Aam Khas Bagh, Gurudwara Fatehgarh Sahib, Rauza Sharif and Todar Mal's Haveli.

Sanghol: Sanghol Stupa is the only remaining Buddhist site in Punjab. The archaeological remains of ancient stupa are worth a visit.

Sri Bhaini Sahib: Bhaini Village was the site of Kuka Rebellion, the oldest known mass non-cooperation movement against the British. Entire village was converted into a Gurudwara. Every building associated with any of the historic events was converted to a monument. Native Namdhari Community is working hard to keep the tradition alive within the boundaries of this mesmerizing village.

Doraha: Doraha used to be a small town on the historic Grand Trunk Road. The old Caravan Sarai still exists.

Bija: Less than 10Km from Doraha Sarai, stands proudly, Sarai Lashkari Khan, the shooting site of movie Rang De Basanti. We shall spend some time here before proceeding to Malerkotla.

Malerkotla: Malerkotla was an important Mughal and British Town. On a sunny day, 88 Namdharis were blown in front of canons for opposing animal killing and the massacre of butchers. If time permitted, we shall visit the old palace and fort within the town.

Shambhu: On our way back to Delhi, we will stop over at Mughal Shambhu Sarai on border of Haryana and Punjab.
