About the Event

Another Heritage Durbar being organized by the Youth for Heritage Foundation at the India Habitat Centre, where we will talk about the last Queen of Punjab, who fell victim of the conspiracies of the British. Her 9 year old son, the last Maharaja of Punjab, Duleep Singh was taken away and turned Christian. All this started while she was in mourning of the demise of her husband, the famous and powerful, Sarkar Khalsaji, Sher-e-Punjab, Maharaja Sardar Ranjit Singh. Soon after the death of Ranjit Singh, several claimants to the throne died mysteriously one after another, until the last, Kunwar Duleep Singh was left along with Maharani Jind Kaur as her care taker. Duleep Singh was taken to Britain and Jind Kaur was prisoned, only to escape and live her life as a beggar. Join us to know more about her tough journey through those painful years and how the powerful kingdom of Punjab was lost to the Divide and Rule policy of the British
