About the Event

This 21st, we explore one of the 7 mosques built by Khan-i-Jahan Junan Shah Tilangani, under the flag of Feroz Shah Tughlaq. This mosque, popularly known as Khirki Masjid has numerous stories hidden, which will not only unravel the way we look at our civilization, but also the functioning of society. After an in-depth discussion at the Mosque, we shall move to Satpula, the 14th century sluice dam, which used to hold and channelize water in this region. Some suggest that water was sent even to Tughlaqabad from here, which is roughly 10 Kms away. The brilliant engineering more than 600 years ago gave life to flora and fauna of entire Delhi and people started calling its water miraculous.

Special Lecture

After the walk, we all shall proceed to DLF Place, Saket at gather at Om Book Store (1st floor), where our speaker will discuss a sensitive topic: Should we conserve heritage?. There are cases where we can let go of the pain of conservation, while in most other, we must accept the challenge of protecting and promoting our dying heritage. This interactive session will help us clear many doubts and we will also discuss about the education and career options, if one wish to conserve heritage. The lecture is independent of the Walk and free of charge. You can come directly for the lecture also, if you wish to skip the walk (or vice-versa).
